UPLAND, Ind - The Jackets traveled to Turner Field to take on the Taylor Trojans, by a score of 17-0. The Trojans took the lead early and managed to keep adding to it.
The Yellow Jackets (0-6) finished non-conference play and turn their attention to the program's first season through WHAC play.
The Turning Point
The Trojans led their scoring charge early with a goal in the second minute of the game by Morgan Fletemeyer off a corner by Audrey Grimm. This began the Trojans' day as they had two different players record hat tricks, those being Gabriela Gonzales and Faith Sena. They also had two players score two goals with Sydney Reddy and Morgan Fletemeyer getting on the score sheet twice.
A Closer Look
- Taylor's 17 goals were the most by a Defiance opponent since Kalamazoo scored 14 on Oct. 20, 1999. It was also one shy of tying the program record of 18.
- The Trojans recorded 54 shots and 34 on frame while the Yellow Jackets were held without a shot for the second time this year.
- Madison Hert made 17 saves which was her season high.
- Both teams were disciplined as they only committed two fouls apiece.
UP NEXT
The Yellow Jackets open up WHAC competition on Saturday with a visit to Cleary. Kickoff against the Cougars is scheduled for 1 p.m.
