WBU Downed By Hornets 74-49

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (1/23/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell to Harris-Stowe State 74-49 inside the Emerson Performance Center on Thursday night.

Elisha Cofield put up a double-double to lead WBU in points and rebounds with 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting and 14 rebounds.  Antonio Trotter added eight off the bench.

The Eagles went 17-for-53 (32.1 percent) from the field in the contest including a 7-for-22 (31.8 percent) mark from three-point range. WBU struggled from the free throw line, posting a 8-for-18 (44.4 percent) mark from the charity stripe.

Harris-Stowe out-shot WBU on a 42.2 percent clip on the night.  Williams won the rebound battle 46-43, but 26 Eagle turnovers turned into 16 Hornet points.  HSSU also put up 30 points in the paint to WBU's 10.

Harris-Stowe kicked the game off on a 7-0 run to take an early lead.  WBU answered with a 10-2 run to take the lead, but the Hornets were able to take back the advantage and did not relinquish it.

An Elisha Cofield layup cut the Harris-Stowe lead to 13 in the second half, but Williams failed to close the gap.

The loss drops the Eagles to 4-12 overall on the year and 1-9 in American Midwest Conference action.  WBU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 on the road against William Woods.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Fulton, Mo.
