Lady Eagles Fall to Owls in Regular Season Finale

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/8/24) – The Williams Baptist volleyball team concluded the 2024 regular season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-14) loss to William Woods inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on Friday night.

Jayla Weddington, Tinleigh Ruhman, Meadow Jones, and Darcy Broglin all tied for the team lead in kills with three.  Broglin had the highest hitting percentage of the three with a .200 mark.

William Woods pulled away in the first set with an 8-1 run that gave the Owls a 16-8 lead they would not relinquish.

WBU played tough in the second set. A kill from Meadow Jones gave the Eagles a 12-11 lead, but WWU fought back to tie it at 13.  A Hope Raymond ace brought Williams within one at 17-16, but the Owls were able to pull away behind the serve of Erin Treis to take the second set 25-18.

The Owls got out to a quick start in the third set, grabbing a 10-4 lead to force an Eagle timeout.  The Eagles fought back to get it within four at 17-13, but conceded eight of the final nine points to drop the third set and the match.

The loss gives the Eagles a final regular season record of 10-18 and 5-6 in conference play.  WBU will await word on its opponent in the quarterfinal round of the AMC Tournament, which is set to take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12 hosted at campus sites.
