NCAA DIII Lyon College bested the Lady Pioneers for the second time this season with a three-to-one set win over CRC in this evening's matchup. CRC falls to 5-9 on the year and remains 1-2 in conference. Sets went as follows: 16-25 Lyon, 31-29 CRC, 27-29 Lyon, and 18-25 Lyon.
Paragould, Ark.- This evening's matchup summoned two thrilling extra frame sets that would play a decisive factor in determining a winner with the Lady Scots and Lady Pioneers seemingly being evenly matched. Lyon College would take the opening set by a margin of nine points before the CRC offense would rouse to even the set score with their longest set win of the season. After falling behind, CRC would finally edge the Lady Scots by taking set two at six points past regulation with a score of 31-29. The big set would see 15 ties and 13 lead changes before CRC would come out on top. The contest's intense gameplay continued in set three with extra frames once more being needed to determine a winner as the two teams battled fiercely for the set advantage. In the focal third set, Lyon College would unfortunately end as victors as they outlasted CRC 29-27. In the final set of the matchup, CRC battled to reclaim lost ground but would be unsuccessful as the Scots would pull away with a 7-point lead midway through the set, allowing them to get the better of the Lady Pioneers.
Sophomore Brooklyn Cross got back on track with her double-digit kill night as Cross led the team with 11 kills and 4 blocks. Sophomore Mallory Hollis paced the defense with 17 digs; freshman Alyssa Dirden followed with 15 digs. Senior Jadyn Hesse led in assists with 20 helpers; freshman Madelyn Burris followed with 11. Senior Hannah Halverson tallied 5 service aces in the defeat.
