V-Hawks Clinch Win at Home
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team swept Governors State University (25-14, 25-9, 25-12). The V-Hawks rise to 17-9 (CCAC 10-0) while the Jaguars fall to 6-11 (CCAC 2-7).
Maddie Connor would set up Jada Mitchell to open up the match for the V-Hawks drawing a kill. Continuing to remain in stride with the Jaguars, Grace Peyron and Martina McGrath would seal a block. McGrath would come up again with a block on the 11th point along side Sadie Treptow, and again with Hailee Halverson a point later. The V-Hawks would widen the lead with back to back kills by Izzy Jahr during a six point run.
The V-Hawks would capitalize on three quick points in the second set including an ace by Kenidi McCabe. Mitchell would make quick work of a series of sets by Cailie Kowal growing another six point run, followed by an eight point run surging the V-Hawks to 17 points, led by Mitchell and Halverson. Freshman, Jalen Hinzman would take an opportunity from Connor taking set two 25-9.
Kowal on the serve the V-Hawks would take a quick four point lead with an ace and two strong kills by Peyron. The Jaguars would look to regain position though two Mia Quist aces would propel the V-Hawks forward for nine points. Jahr would take the final attack of the match for the V-Hawks sealing another conference win.
Mitchell led the V-Hawks with 10 kills, while Kowal supplied 20 assists and Connor with 14. McCabe took 10 digs.
The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, October 29th on the road at Judson for the season rematch.
