Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Nevada, Mo. – With a day of rest between matches, Central Baptist College volleyball took on the Comets of Cottey College today in an American Midwest Conference match inside Hinkhouse Gymnasium. CBC (3-6, 3-1 AMC) dropped the first set 18-25 to CC (6-14, 0-4 AMC) before winning the final three sets 25-15, 25-20, 25-17.

Madeline Freeman led the way with nine kills while Brooke Schmitz led in assists with 14 and Kailee Walker led the way in digs with 19. Aubree Ruggles was also stout defensively, blocking seven attacks from Cottey to help hold the Comets to 34 kills and a hitting percentage of .013 while the Mustangs had 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .092. The key to the match was the serve where CBC had 15 aces compared to 10 for Cottey.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • CBC is now 1-1 in four set matches this season and 60-61 all-time in the length of set

  • This was only the ninth match that CBC has ever had at least 15 aces and the first since last August against USAO
