
Tough to hang in against 63% shooting as Cougars roll

ST. LOUIS, MO – Coming off their first conference win of the season on Saturday, the Eutectics were trying to run that win streak to two as they welcomed in one of the top clubs in the AMC. UHSP hung in for a half against Columbia, but the Cougars never let up as they shot an electric 63.1% for night in a 104-69 win over UHSP. Collin Parker led four Cougars in double figures with 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Former Cougar Brock Davis led all scorers with 24 points for UHSP as he went 10-for-15 from the floor. The Cougars won their tenth straight over the Eutectics.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Early on, this one was back and forth. Jas Suvalija drilled a three to give UHSP a 14-13. Midway through the first half, Brock Davis knocked down a triple tying the contest at 28-28. Columbia went on an 11-0 run after that until Yigit Ekinci added a three to make it 39-31. That was all part of a 27-10 finish to the half for Columbia as they led 55-38 at the break.
- The Cougars were electric all night as they shot 64.5% from the floor in the first half going 20-for-31 overall and just a tick below that from deep on 9-of-14 shooting (64.3%).
- Davis had 14 points in the first half for the Euts missing just three shots from the floor on nine attempts.
- With 7:53 left in the game, Davis tripled to make the score 85-61. Columbia scored 19 of the final 27 points the rest of the way.
- UHSP did their best to try and hang in there again a team that was on a near record setting pace from the perimeter. UHSP was 10-of-33 (30.3%) from deep while CC shot 50% making 14-of-18 attempts.
- Both teams combined to miss just one foul shot on the night (CC 8-for-8, UHSP 5-for-6).
- It is the seventh time this season that Brock Davis was the leading scorer in a game for UHSP.
- Columbia outrebounded the Eutectics 38-27. Sean Paradise Jr. led UHSP with five boards.
- Yigit Ekinci had five assists off the bench for UHSP in just 16 minutes.
- Eight turnovers by the Eutectics are the second-fewest in a single game this year. The six turnovers my Columbia matches their season-best showing. It is the third time this year the Cougars have had just six turnovers in a game.
- Columbia improves to 20-2 against the Eutectics since 1999.

The Eutectics (7-18, 1-15 AMC) have just two games remaining in their regular season. They will play host to Mission (7-14, 5-9 AMC) on Saturday at 3:00p in their home finale and then make their shortest road trip of the season when they visit Harris-Stowe the following Saturday, Feb. 22.
