SAU closes fall season with win over Grand View
A successful fall season came to a close with a 6-1 win over Grand View Friday afternoon at North Scott High School.
The Bees won two doubles matches and five singles matches to move to 6-1 on the year.
Miguel Sampaio and Esteban Rocha earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 team of Gianfranco Garcia and Jaime Febres won by forfeit.
Three of SAU's singles wins came in straight sets. Garcia won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3; Sampaio won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4; and Febres won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
Sebastian Arevalo Piraquive needed a third-set super-tiebreaker in his 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 victory at No. 1 singles. Gabriel Guimaray fell in a third-set breaker, losing 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 at No. 2.
Rocha earned a victory via forfeit at No. 6 singles.
St. Ambrose will begin CCAC play when the season resumes in the spring.
